I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We had a lovely time and our living room now bears a close resemblence to a toy store! I love this week between Christmas and New Year. It's a time to get all those little jobs done that you keep putting off all year because you're too busy! One of those jobs is to tidy my craft room - quite a daunting task but I'm determined to do it!

I've used the sketch on Katherina's blog for this card. I need to make a few thank-you cards for Thomas' Christmas presents and I think this cute elephant is perfect for this kind of card. I've coloured him with watercolour pencils and H2O's. The paper is BG Euphoria and I got the idea to use the mesh from Aiga's blog.

One of my new years resolutions is to decorate the inside of my cards but I didn't have enough paper left over this time. I will definitely start doing this in the new year though!

An award!

>> Thursday, 18 December 2008

I've received this lovely award from Michele - thanks so much!! The rules are to give it to five others, who shall give it to five others.. You shall link the one you got it from, and also the ones you give it to:) And let them know. You also have to write down five things you are addicted to so here are my 5:

Crafting (obviously)
Chocolate (almost every kind except orange for coffee)
Good American TV dramas (Prison Break, Lost, Heros)
Shopping (for anything, I even enjoy the weekly food shop!)
Blogging

And here are the lovely ladies I am passing this award on to: Tara, Jacqui, Caro, Dawn and Debby. Some of these ladies might have already received it but I really enjoy their blogs and visit regularly.

Today I started and finished my Christmas shopping! I also managed to buy myself some lovely smooth watercolour paper and some Bo Bunny papers jumped into my basket too!

I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.

Last Christmas card - promise!

>> Monday, 15 December 2008

This is it! My last Christmas card for 2008. It's taken me days to put it together as I'm so busy right now so I've done 10 mins here, 10 mins there etc etc. I've used the sketch from last weeks Ismaki Challenge and I used scraps of Imaginisce and Scribble Scrabble paper. I embossed the green card with the dotty cuttlebug folder and red circle with the snowflake folder. Mimi has been coloured with Prisma pencils, with some glitter on her fur trim. I used some worn lipstick distress ink on the green circles.

I'm going to try and do a bit of crafting at the weekend but I'm living in a bit of 'social whirl' right now so I might need the weekend to catch up with sleep/housework etc.

Friday Sketchers/Cute Card Thursday

>> Friday, 12 December 2008

Here's..................................another Christmas card! I love this weeks Friday Sketchers sketch from Heidi; I think I work better with the more symetrical sketches. I've used double-sided Scribble Scrabble paper, punched snowflakes and a Penny Black sentiment stamp. Luckily this card was quick to make as I'm super tired after a work of commuting to London and I need an early night!

Something a bit different!

>> Wednesday, 10 December 2008

I really wanted to make a non-Christmas card today so I've used this weeks card sketch from Split Coast Stampers. The strawberry stamp was a freebie with Craft Stamper magazine some months ago. I coloured the image with water colour pencils and then embossed them to give them some shine and sprinkled on a bit of glitter. The embossing curled the strawberries slightly but I think it gives them a nice 3D quality. I've used my new Basic Grey papers which are Urban Prairie and added the little charm so it qualifies for this weeks BG challenge too! All the paper edges have been inked with worn lipstick distress ink.

Yet another Christmas card!

>> Tuesday, 9 December 2008

I'm starting to get a bit bored of Christmas cards!! I've cut and stuck enough snowflakes to last me at least another 12 months so I'll make just one more for my in-laws and then that's it!! This card has been made following a fab sketch at Our Creative Corner. I coloured Mimi with Prisma pencils and used my favourite Angel Dust glitter for the fur trim on her jacket. I embossed the pink square behind Mimi with the Cuttlebug snowflake folder and also added a Cuttlebug fancy corner diecut which is my favourite thing at the moment. The other 'ingredients are: Paper - DCWV, snowflakes - sissix and X-cut, Papermania ribbon.

And I thought I would add a picture of Thomas. He was reaching into his toy box for his drumstick just before bedtime yesterday when he fell in. I happened to have my camera handy so took a quick snap. Once he got over the surprise he was quite pleased with himself!

The Christmas rush is definitely on in this house! I've only bought a couple of things for Thomas so I really need to get myself organised. But I'm working all week this week so the shopping is going to have to wait a bit longer - Bluewater the week before Christmas isn't pretty!

I did get a family Christmas card made last night. I thought the sketch would work well with this shape card (I'm sure there is a proper name for it but I don't know what it is!). I bought this lovely double sided Imaginisce paper and the Papermania tinsel trim at the Craft Barn last week. The funky snowgirl from Spiral Whisper is coloured with Prisma pencils, the sentiment is a Penny Black stamp and the snowflakes are a Sissix die.

All rolled into one

>> Friday, 5 December 2008

I had a lovely time at the Craft Barn last week. I was fairly restrained but still came away with some lovely bits - mainly card and paper. And then before I could play with my new stash I came down with a sickness bug! I was in bed all day Sunday and have just had my first proper meal this evening. So I've managed to squeeze three challenges into this one card.

The sketch is by Claudia at Friday Sketchers, there are some hearts for Cute Card Thursday and I made it a thank-you card for A Spoon Full of Sugar! I've used my new favourite papers which are Bo Bunny and are simply delicious. Tilda is coloured with distress inks, the flowers are Making Memories and Prima and the lovely swirly corner is my new favourite Cuttlebug die.

Friday Sketchers

>> Friday, 28 November 2008

We lost our internet connection yesterday for 24 hours - I was lost without it! No email, no blog hopping, I didn't know what to do with myself!! I did colour Mimi and once I was able to get back on line today I took a quick look at the Friday Sketchers challenge and made this card. All the paper is from Crate Paper and is so lovely to use because it is double sided!! I've used paprika versacolor ink on the edges and also to stamp the flourishes.

I'm so looking forward to a visit to the Craft Barn tomorrow. I've got two lists: a 'must have' shopping list which includes things like card, cutting blades, double sided tape and then a 'wish list' which is very long indeed! But I know I will have a very happy few hours browsing around followed by a big wince when I get to the till!

A Spoon Full of Sugar

>> Wednesday, 26 November 2008

I love this weeks Spoon Full of Sugar sketch! My card seemed to come together so easily! Max was already coloured so I picked my papers to match him. The blue background card has been stamped with a Hero Arts snowflake stamp using white Staz on. I've also inked the edges with Indigo versacolor. The papers are from DCWV and I also inked the edge of the pink piece with pink versacolor. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the pale blue circle and the sentiment is a Penny Black stamp. Please don't look too closely at the slits I cut to thread the ribbon through!! They're a bit wobbly!! The snowflakes are punched with my XCut punch from pale blue glitter card.

WOJ Challenge

>> Tuesday, 25 November 2008

This card is for the WOJ challenge which this time is a lovely sketch. I've used BG Two Scoops papers for this card as I love the combination of blues, greens and pink. I've coloured my image with distress inks and then chalked the background with greens and blues. I've done the same with the sentiment and also added some pink gems to the background paper which I stamped with Inkadinkadoo flourishes.

Sketch Saturday/Cute Card Tuesday

What a busy weekend! We're a bit partied out as we went to my neices 2nd birthday party yesterday and a christening today. I did a bit of colouring whilst I was staying with my parents on Friday night and this image was one of them. Winter Mimi is one of Janets new designs at Pink Gem Designs and she is so sweet and lovely to colour. I've used Papermania DP and cut my snowflakes with a Sissix die.

A new challenge

>> Wednesday, 19 November 2008

I wanted to make a card for one of the girls at Thomas's nursery who is leaving on Friday. I thought my Sarah Kay stamp would be perfect so I've made a card for this weeks Stamp with Stampavie challenge which was a lovely sketch. I've coloured the image with Prisma pencils and used pink chalk to shade the background. I like the subtlety of chalk which I can't seem to achieve with distress inks - need to find some good distress ink tutorials I think! The DP is from My Minds Eye and I've added a satin bow and Prima flowers.

A funky card!

>> Tuesday, 18 November 2008

This card is for two challenges; Papertake Weekly (snowflakes) and Saturday Sketchers. I bought the white embossed snowflake paper from the Craft Barn last winter but this is the first time I've used it. All the other papers are DCWV. I've coloured my Spiral Whisper funky snowgirl with Prisma pencils and added a bit of stickles for some bling. My snowflake embellishment is a Sissix die with an X-cut flake punched from glitter card on top.

Magnolia vs. Stampavie

>> Sunday, 16 November 2008

This is my first entry for the new combined challenge blog. The card didn't turn out as well as I had hoped though - I'm not sure what it is but it just doesn't seem very 'balanced'. I coloured Lily & Milo with water colours for a change and the DP is Sandylion. I couldn't find anything to make a scalloped edge that looked right for the image so I had to leave it off!

Friday Sketchers

>> Saturday, 15 November 2008

The sketch for this weeks Friday Sketchers was a challenging one for me! I struggle when there are lots of layers and it takes me ages to choose the papers and card. I don't have a natural eye for putting different patterns together so sometimes I think the card can look a bit messy. I'm pretty pleased with this one though! I've coloured Tilda with my Prisma pencils and I was a bit more sparing with the colour this time to try and get a better depth of shading. All the papers are Basic Grey Euphoria which does make it easier to use them together and I inked some of the edges with burgandy versacolor. The rest of the 'ingredients': Large brad - Basic Grey, small brads - Lasting Impressions, Prima flowers, Quickutz photo corner.

Papertake Challenge/A Spoon Full of Sugar

>> Tuesday, 11 November 2008

It's my neice's birthday at the weekend so this weeks Spoon Full of Sugar challenge - to make a card for a child - is just perfect! I love using pink and brown together and I've used the sketch for this weeks Papertake Challenge. Milly looks so cute in her pink coat and holding her pink balloon! All the cardstock is bazzil and the paper is Basic Grey. The balloon is a Quickutz die and I punched a hole just under her hand to thread the string through.

Couldn't stay away!

>> Saturday, 8 November 2008

Well my craft room is still a mess and my bedroom hasn't seen the paint brush yet so I had to sit amongst the chaos to make this card! I've used this weeks Friday Sketchers layout to make another Christmas card. The image is Little Claire Designs and I've used Prisma pencils to colour it. I've put some diamond Stickles on the the umbrella, snowflakes and elephant to add a bit of sparkle. The background is a piece of lilac metallic card which I stamped using Staz on and then embossed with a sparkly powder. The paper is from the DCWV Christmas Stack which I edged with Amethyst Versa color ink and the snowflakes are Sissix and Xcut.
Apologies for the dark picture but its a miserable day in Kent today. But I'm off to a Christmas Craft Fair this afternoon so that should brighten my day!

Enforced break from cardmaking!

>> Wednesday, 29 October 2008

Stage 2 of our bedroom redecoration is underway! The electrician was here all day to sort out the very dodgy wiring in our bedroom and to install some new sockets. Now that is done I can get on with the painting. Of course it means that all of the 'stuff' from our room has to be stored somewhere while I wield my paintbrush and its all in my craft room. I can just about get to my desk so if the withdrawal symptons get too bad I can probably stamp and colour a few images but its also my sons first birthday in just under 2 weeks so I have lots of planning and baking to do in between working and decorating.

I did make a couple of cards over the weekend; one for Claire's son Daniel and one for my little boy. I won't post a picture of Daniel's card as I don't want to spoil the surprise but I will post a picture of Thomas' card once it is finished.

Friday Sketchers/Cute Card Thursday

>> Friday, 24 October 2008

I've managed to combine two challenges with this card. This image of Max is so cute; I've coloured him with Prisma pencils and he's mounted on sticky fixers. I used my DCWV Christmas papers and embossed the metallic card centre strip with the Cuttlebug. The base paper actually had quite a few more stars along the top but I had to cut them off to make the paper fit the base card so I added a few more punched stars instead.

I've been tagged!

Actually I've been tagged twice, I just forgot that Chris tagged me a few weeks ago ... oops. Thanks Michele for tagging me! So here are 7 random bits of info about me:

1. I prefer X Factor to Strictly Come Dancing
2. The toilet paper ALWAYS has to come over the top of the roll. I will change it around wherever I am if its wrong!!
3. I'm quite a good cook, baking cakes is my speciality
4. I'm in the middle of decorating our bedroom; its only taking about 6 months!
5. I was advised to give up art and take another O level - apparently I wasn't creative!
6. I love to see my son's cloth nappies drying in the sunshine on the washing line
7. Tonight for my tea I'm having pizza, salad and creme brulee

Will post again later with a card!

Whiff of Joy - autumn colours

>> Tuesday, 21 October 2008

This card is for the latest WOJ challenge to use autumn colours and I also used Katherina's sketch #27 for the layout. Gill very kindly sent me a few stamped WOJ images with my recent prize and I've coloured Melinda with Prisma pencils. All the card is Bazzil and I stamped the green background card with a Hero Arts leaf stamp using Versamark. The papers are from a DCWV Far East matstack and the leaf is a Quickutz die. I've had the fibre in my stash for a while but I think it is Basic Grey. These colours are a bit out of my comfort zone but I'm pretty happy with the way its turned out.

I must ask Santa to bring me a light for my desk. There are only wall lights in the spare room that I use for crafting and my colouring during the dark evenings is not brilliant - poor Melinda has a bit of green tinge on her foot!!

Friday Sketchers and an accordian card

>> Friday, 17 October 2008

Two cards to show you today. The first is an accordian card which I started to make weeks ago but have only just finished! I found the instructions for this card on the Split Coast Stampers website and its actually very easy to make. I used an old cereal box for the front and back covers and Bazzil card for the accordian bit. All the papers are Basic Grey. Tilda is coloured with Prisma pencils and then mounted on pink and burgandy bazzil card. The die cut sunflower is a Quickutz die and I used my circle nestabilities to cut the aperture and frame. Fluffles is also coloured is Prisma pencils and the flowers are Prima. The third page is for the greeting and then the pocket on the final page is for the gift.

My second card is for this weeks Friday Sketchers challenge. It's a lovely sketch and I have kept my card very simple. The papers are DCWV and the card is all bazzil. I've mounted my funky snowgirl a little differently because I didn't have enough of the pink card left! The snowflakes are cut using my new Sissix die.

Tilda & Co Challenge

>> Wednesday, 15 October 2008

I originally started this card for an earlier Tilda challenge which was to include some metal in the card. But I didn't like how the card looked so I rescued the ribbon & charm, threw the rest in the bin and started again! I started with the ribbon (which was a freebie) and built the card around that. The DP has been in my drawer for absolutely ages but I think its SEI. I used three different shades of Bazzil card and embossed the background and circle pieces with my Cuttlebug. Tilda is coloured with distress inks.

A Spoon Full of Sugar

>> Tuesday, 14 October 2008

My lovely WOJ prize stamp arrived today so I HAD to make a card with it this evening! I used the sketch for this weeks Spoon Full of Sugar challenge which suited my new stamp perfectly. I've used distress inks and water colours to colour Melinda and added some diamond stickles to her wings. The DP's are Basic Grey as are the pink brads, the photo corners are a Quickutz die and the flowers are a mixture from my stash. I'm always a bit scared about stamping a sentiment directly onto a card in case it smudges but luckily this time all was OK!!

This is my card for this weeks Sketch Saturday challenge. I coloured Amelia with Prisma pencils and the papers I have used are Basic Grey. I'm not sure what it is - maybe the blue is too dark?

Papertake Challenge

>> Friday, 3 October 2008

I'm having a few crafting problems at the moment! Firstly, the card I ordered 2 1/2 weeks ago still hasn't arrived. Plus the double-sided tape I bought last week doesn't stick properly which means by the following morning my cards are in pieces again! I bought some horrible thick stuff from our local stationers which will do for now but I need some nice, slim, sticky, easy to tear tape. Recommendations please!

This card is for this weeks Papertake challenge. It was nice to make a slightly smaller card for this challenge and I kept it simple by using just one patterened paper (Basic Grey). Tilda is coloured with Prisma pencils which I love more and more everytime I use them. I cut the circles with my Nestabilities and then ran the pink one through the Cuttlebug. Lace, ribbon and charm are from my stash. The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the sentiment which I stamped with burgandy ink but its not that clear.

I've made this card for my friends little girl who will be one next week. I can't believe the past year has gone so quickly. It doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that we were both pregnant and on the phone to each other moaning about our 24 hour sickness/aching backs/constant tiredness!! I think this card qualifies for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge - I've added glitter to each of the creatures on the letters. I've coloured with distress inks and water colour pencils and the paper is Doodlebug (I think).

Sketch Saturday/Spoon Full of Sugar

>> Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Jo created a lovely sketch to use this week. I've used it to make a birthday card for my brother-in-law. The Doodlebug papers are not that inspiring but they are good for male cards! I coloured Edwin with distress inks (don't look too hard or you'll see where the ink 'bled'!) And the fish charm qualifies this for the Cute Card Tuesday challenge which is to use a charming character or a charm on your card.

I am now down to my last piece of A4 white smooth card!! I ordered some more over a week ago but it hasn't arrived yet and I'm starting to panic a bit!! I'll have to use my watercolour paper for all my stamping in the meantime. Hopefully the postman will bring me a lovely parcel tomorrow.

Hanging Treat Box

I've made this hanging treat box as part of my entry for the Craft Stamper 'Stamper of the Year' competition. I got the template from Splitcoaststampers and it was really easy to make. The paper is from a DCWV stack and I used purple and pink core-dinations card. I hung it on the stairgate so you can see it from a different angle! I'm going to try and make one for each of the children - put a small pressie inside and hang it on the Christmas tree!

After a couple of days with my parents I'm way behind on all the challenges but hopefully will have a bit more time to craft tonight.

I've used her sketch #4 for this card. The papers are Basic Grey which I've scuffed a little around the edges. The swirl stamps on the green paper are Inkadinkado. Amelia & Swing is a Kadoodle stamp designed by Christine Dry and she was lovely to colour. I've used Prisma pencils and Sansador and I've highlighted her pockets with diamond glaze and a bit of glitter on her flower. The flowers are Prisma and the charm was from a mixed bag I bought off Ebay. Ribbon & brads from my stash.

What a lovely sketch from Nicki this week; I've used it to make my sisters birthday card. Tilda has been coloured with Prisma pencils and H2O's. I made the charm by punching some inked shrink plastic and adding a jump ring and the flowers are all from the Craft Barn with brads and spacers added to the centre.

I've used Basic Grey papers, Bazzil cardstock and also a bit of Bazzil Bling to add a little bit of sparkle. I used my piercing tool around the edge of the flap and then stamped the greeting and a small motif on the inside. Really pleased with how this turned out.

Friday Sketchers/Cute Card Thursday

Two challenges in one card again! The sketch for this weeks Friday Sketchers challenge is lovely and as pink is definitely the predominant colour in my paper stash, this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge was very enjoyable! One small moan though, my Fiskars circle cutter is the most annoying piece of crafting equipment I have. I wasted so much card trying to cut the circle to stamp Lily onto - it just won't cut through thick card very well so I'm moving Nestabilities to the top of my crafting 'wanted' list! I just love mixing the denim card with pink and I think I've said before how much I love these Karen Neuburger papers and the flower embellishments are KN too.
