Sketch Saturday

>> Tuesday 26 January 2010

Hi everyone, I hope your week is going well so far.  Tonight I’ve made a card for a work colleague who has a birthday next week.  She’s not a girly girl so I’ve stayed away from the flowers (which was quite hard!) and opted for some bright zingy papers instead.

SS1

SS2I’ve used a great sketch from the Sketch Saturday blog, although I realised once I had finished that I’d missed a layer out!  The papers are BG Lemonade, the photo corners are a Quickutz die and the ribbon is from Truly Scrumptious Crafts.  I’m also going to enter this in the Spoon Full of Sugar challenge which is ‘Anything Goes’.

Just Magnolia (and a few others!)

>> Sunday 24 January 2010

It’s unusual for me to post on a Sunday but there was a load of rubbish on the TV last night so while Dave watched a terrible film (he will watch anything!) I escaped upstairs to my craft room.  I was dying to use my new distressing tool which arrived in the week, along with some Magnolia papers which are fabulous – very strokeable!

JM1

JM2T ilda is coloured with distress inks and I used a glitter pen to add sparkle to her wings and the little hearts she is blowing.  The two larger hearts and corner flourish are Crafty Individuals stamps.  You can’t really tell from the picture but I used silicone glue for the hearts so they are very slightly raised.   And I used another CI stamp for the rolled up scroll.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the ribbon anJM3d button are from the pastel ribbon & button bag from Truly Scrumptious Crafts.  The sentiment was a freebie that came with a magazine.

I’m going to enter this card for the following challenges:

Just Magnolia – sketch

Secret Crafter – Colours

Magnolia Down Under – Valentines

Totally Gorjuss - Dimension

Pink Gem DT Card

>> Friday 22 January 2010

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you have all had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend ahead.

PGDT

This is my second Pink Gem DT card.  Snowflake Mimi looks so demure in her party dress – like butter wouldn’t melt!  She is coloured with distress inks, with a tiny dab of stickles to make her hair bows sparkle.  The papers are a mixture of magazine freebies and Karen Marie Klip.  I used my new Fiskars border punch to create the lacy strip along the bottom of the card.  The button and grosgrain ribbon are from the Truly Scrumptious pink ribbon & button kit

I’m entering this card in the following challenges:

Mojo Monday – Sketch

Creative Card Crew & Simon Says Stamp – Punch it

Charisma Cardz – Fruity colours

Truly Scrumptious – All sewn up

>> Wednesday 20 January 2010

It’s Truly Scrumptious challenge time and this week we have a lovely sketch drawn by DT member Nicole.

Nicole sketch 1

This card didn’t turn out as I imagined it, in fact it came together though a whole series of errors.  I coloured my Gorjuss girl and then tried to shade behind her using distress inks.   That was my first mistake so I had to cut her out instead.  The papers are by Melissa Frances and are some of my favourites but they are so tricky to match with card – not really lilac but not really blue either.  I’m not sure the Bazzil card I used really works but I’m getting low on cardstock so it was the best I could do.

ts1

I used Stempelglede stamps to create a border around the centre panel and then edged with distress ink and sparkling embossing powder.  Warning: embossing ink really stings if you’ve got a paper cut on your finger!!  The sentiment is from Crafty Individuals.

The DT have again outdone themselves so please take a look at their cards and I hope you will be able to join in this challenge.

A double Guest DT card

>> Friday 15 January 2010

Hi everyone.  Work has kept me away from crafting and blogging for a few days but I’m back into my normal routine now.

I was thrilled to receive an email from Janet a little while ago asking if I would like to be a guest DT member for Pink Gem Designs; of course I bit her hand off!  And then I received an email from Kimmi asking if I would stay as the Stampin for the Weekend guest designer for an extra week.  So this is a Guest DT double whammy.

SFTW1

This gorgeous Teddy with Rose is perfect for a Valentine card so I’ve made this for my husband using the great sketch on this weeks SFTW challenge.  I’ve used distress inks and twinkling H2O’s to colour the bear.

The ribbon, buttons and charm are all from my new shop – Truly Scrumptious Crafts which sells gorgeous embellishments for papercrafters.  The paper is by Magenta and as the reverse was a bit plain I used and Inkadinkadoo flourish stamp and embossed in white.  I SFTW2love how Kim uses sparkle around her images so I tried it on this card.  It doesn’t look as neat as Kim’s but I’m quite pleased with the effect.

Please pop over to the SFTW blog.  The DT have made some amazing cards and there is a fabulous prize to be won too!

Wild Rose Studio DT card

>> Friday 8 January 2010

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you are all staying warm in this Siberian weather.  Apparently we’re getting more snow on Sunday so make sure you have plenty of hot chocolate and yummy biscuits in your cupboards!!

WRS1

WRS2 I felt the need to make a spring-like card so I made a DT card using this lovely Wild Rose Studio stamp.  This is the first side step card I’ve made and I really enjoyed it.  I dug out every flower punch I own and punched flowers from lots of scraps in my drawer.  It was only when I uploaded my photo I realised I had forgotten to colour her shoes!  I’ll do that and add a bit more sparkle to the image before I send the card to Dulcie!

First Truly Scrumptious challenge of 2010

>> Wednesday 6 January 2010

Yay, its time for the first Truly Scrumptious challenge of the New Year.  We have a fabulous sketch for you drawn by Mina;

Mina sketch 6  with the optional challenge of using the colour combination of pink, green and black.

One of my new year resolutions is to try and decorate the inside of my cards more, especially the cards I make with a specific person in mind.  This card is for a work colleague who has a birthday next week.  Tilda is coloured with distress inks and I added some distress stickles to the flower petals and a blob of diamond glaze to the flower centre.  The gorgeous paper is by Bo Bunny and I wish I’d bought more than one sheet now.  The flowers are all EK Success punches.

TS23

This is the inside:

TS23 5

I folded the base card to create a small ‘spine’ so the flowers don’t get squashed when you close the card.

The rest of the DT have made some gorgeous cards so do visit the blog and join in – there is a fab prize of six of Sandra Dry’s digi stamps to be won as well!

Wild Rose Studio meets Mojo Monday

>> Tuesday 5 January 2010

The snow is falling thick and fast in Kent now – we’ve had about an inch in the last 1/2 hour alone!  I don’t know about you but I’m bored of the snow now, I’d like Spring to start immediately after Christmas!!

WRS DT card

I’ve used this weeks Mojo Monday sketch to make this Wild Rose Studio DT card.  Aren’t these bears adorable?  My colours are a bit autumnal but I thought the papers went really well together.  They are a mixture of Papermania Regency, My Minds Eye Bloom & Grow and Bo Bunny Delilah Delight.  I was struggling to find a sentiment for this card until I came across the ribbon slider in my button bag – its from Making Memories I think.

I’ll have another card for you tomorrow as its the first Truly Scrumptious challenge of the new year.

Happy New Year!

>> Friday 1 January 2010

Happy New Year to you all. I hope that 2010 brings you health & happiness and plenty of time for crafting! We had a fun night with friends last night; a few glasses of wine and playing Sing Star on the Playstation. I managed to avoid having to sing although I did say that if they wanted to start getting rid of their guests in the early hours I would happily oblige with an Abba number!

This is my second Guest DT card for Stampin' for the Weekend. The theme this time is 'New Beginnings' and I chose to make a wedding card for one of my blogging friends who is getting married this month. Again, I had to make a DL card as I've still not ordered some square envelopes (my next job once I've finished this entry!) and I used the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday challenge. The papers are from Papermania and Anna Griffin and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I hope you can join in the challenge - the Design Team have made some gorgeous projects to inspire you.
