Truly Scrumptious – Fly Away

>> Wednesday, 31 March 2010

I hope you are having a good week so far. We’ve had nothing but rain for the last few days which is making our grass grow too quickly but it’s too soggy underfoot to cut it.

It’s Truly Scrumptious challenge time and this time there is a sketch drawn by me:

31 March 10

With the optional extra challenge of following the theme ‘Fly Away’.

I just had to use one of my new LOTV stamps for this card. She has been coloured with distress inks and I’ve added some diamond stickles to her wings. When I met Fiona at the Craft Barn a few weeks ago she gave me a fab tip; instead of spending £10 on a craft sheet I bought a £2.50 oven liner sheet from Tesco and it does exactly the same job! It makes using distress inks on the edges of card and paper an absolute breeze – thanks Fiona!

TS1

TS2Papers: MME (Wild Asparagus) and Daisy D’s

Punched & die cut flowers

Button & ribbon: Truly Scrumptious Crafts

Sentiment: Wild Rose Studio

I hope you will be able to join in our challenge. You have two weeks to enter a card and there is a fab prize of 5 digi images up for grabs.

The Sugar Bowl

>> Saturday, 27 March 2010

It’s been an age since I took part in the Sugar Bowl challenge.  For their latest challenge you can take your pick of any of their previous sketches.  I had this Gorjuss girl coloured and ready to go and I chose Sketch No.10.

Sugar Bowl1

Sugar Bowl2 The papers are Fancy Pants I think, (I cut off the info strip!)  I used some of my new distress ink colours for this cutie and I just love the Pumice Stone which I used for her ‘seat’.  The ends of the organza ribbons (from Truly Scrumptious Crafts) are looped which you can just about make out from the photo.  The flowers are a mixture of Prima, Wild Orchid Crafts some I bought from John Lewis and the sentiment is from a Wild Rose Studio set.

I hope you have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing.  Ours will be a quiet one as my husband has got the chicken pox (caught from Thomas) so he can’t leave the house and I know he will be climbing the walls with boredom before too long!

Pink Gem DT card

Hi everyone.  Finally my camera issues are resolved!  I returned the cheap & nasty one and instead bought a lovely Canon SLR camera!  It’s absolutely fantastic and I keep wanting to stroke it; a bit like you do with new papers you don’t want to cut!  I’ve got an awful lot to learn and I’ve already spent hours online looking for tips and tutorials.  However, in the meantime, I’ve managed to work out how to upload some shots so here is a Pink Gem DT card I made about 2 weeks ago.

Pink Gem 1

Pink Gem 2 I used a Sketch Saturday layout and some funky Bo Bunny papers.  I also dusted off my Prisma pencils for this cute ‘Kaya in boots’ image.  I have to admit I am really out of practice with these pencils but it was nice to work with a different medium for a change.  I used my MS lace doily punch for the border around Kaya and all the flowers are punch with EK Success retro punches.

I’m going to enter this card into this weeks Charisma Cardz challenge which is ‘Spring has Sprung’.

I'm back (kind of)

>> Tuesday, 23 March 2010

Unfortunately the camera saga isn't over yet. I bought a really cheap camera last week but I couldn't take any photos as it wouldn't accept my SD card. So I bought a new card but the quality of the pictures is pretty awful as you can see.

So I have a bit of a dilemma; it's my birthday in a couple of months and my family are all going to club together to buy me a SLR camera so I really don't want to fork out to buy anything more than a simple 'point & shoot'. At the moment I'm thinking I will borrow the office camera once a week to photograph all my makes because I can't upload DT cards that look this bad!

Still no camera

>> Thursday, 18 March 2010

I'm so frustrated I could scream! I went and bought a cheapie 'point & shoot' camera from Currys today but I still can't take any photos as it doesn't like the memory card from my old camera. However, I did have a good look at the lovely SLR cameras while I was there; I'll have to break the price to my husband very gently!

Some exciting Pink Gem news for you; Janet has just released 13 brand news stamps. Andy & Chloe are two super cute characters who you will just LOVE. Pop over to Pink Gem Designs and take a look before they all go.

Truly Scrumptious Challenge 28

>> Wednesday, 17 March 2010

It's time for a new Truly Scrumptious challenge. This week there is a sketch designed my lil' ol' me with the additional optional challenge of creating a 'quilt effect' background on your card.

And I'm sponsoring this weeks challenge as well. The winner will get to choose a ribbon & button kit from my little online shop Truly Scrumptious Crafts, plus they will receive a bag of charms too. Postage and packing is now FREE (UK and N.Ireland only) so do pop by and have a browse.

The DT and our guest designer, Christine, have made some gorgeous cards for this challenge. Unfortunately my camera is beyond repair so I can't show you a card but I have a trip to PC World planned for tomorrow so I'll add my card to this post then (that's if I can figure out how the camera works - I hate reading instruction manuals!)

My camera is broken!

>> Friday, 12 March 2010

I'm so cross! I spent this evening making a card for the Just Magnolia challenge and took several photos but when I plugged it into the computer to upload them my camera seized up and now I can't even switch it on. So no card to show you I'm afraid which is a shame because I was quite pleased with it!

Thank you for all your kind get well wishes for Thomas. The spots seem to have stopped spreading now and I've been liberally dabbing on the calamine lotion but I'm starting to get cabin fever already and it will be a few more days before we can venture out. The trouble is, the more I'm stuck at home, the more I feel the need to do some online shopping! Lucky for me that Thomas has offered, via Daddy, to buy me some new distress ink pads for Mothers Day so I can spend a bit without hurting my credit card.

Have a lovely weekend and I hope its not too long before I can show you another card.

Chicken Pox!

>> Wednesday, 10 March 2010

I have one very spotty little boy at the moment. One small, insignificant spot on Monday evening had turned into about 8 nasty spots yesterday evening and there are more appearing all the time. Luckily he is bright as a button and doesn’t seem worried by them at all but I now have to think of lots of activities for the next few days while he is confined to the house. And instead of a lovely lunch out for Mothers Day on Sunday I’ll be cooking at home!

HPIM2032

This is my last card for Mothers Day. I used some gorgeous Prima paper and Daisy D’s papers, the lattice strip is the reverse of the Prima sheet. The flourish is a Sizzix die and I used one of my new Maya Road chipboard flowers from the Craftz Boutique which I painted with Worn Lipstick crackle paint. The sentiment is Hero Arts and the ribbon hides the slice through the paper when I changed my mind about the layout I was going to use!!

Enjoy the rest of the week and I hope to have another card to show you on Friday.

A Gem of a Challenge #2

>> Monday, 8 March 2010

It’s time for our second challenge over at A Gem of a Challenge and this month we have a fab sketch designed by Janet.

Pink Gem sketch 2

I’ve used one of my March DT stamps “Little Gem & Chick”. I coloured my image with distress inks and I’ve also added a bit of colour to the little chick on the sentiment which is also from Pink Gem Designs. The papers are Wild Rose Studio and I used a mixture of punches to created the layered flowers. The photo corner is a Quickutz die.

Pink Gem challenge 2

Do pop over to the challenge blog as the DT have made some gorgeous samples and remember, you have a whole month to take part!

New look blog!

>> Sunday, 7 March 2010

I've been fiddling around with my blog this afternoon and decided to go for a new look; what do you think? I got the template from "Premades for a Purpose". My previous template was one of Lena's freebies which you can see here but I thought this one was gorgeous and well worth a small $5 fee.

I had a lovely time at the Craft Barn yesterday. It was great to catch up with Christine Dark again and I know I've said this before, but her colouring is even more gorgeous in real life. I also met another fellow blogger, Fiona, and picked up a few ideas for using my glimmer mists (other than spritzing flowers). Unfortunately they didn't have the new distress ink colours so I'm going to have to order those online. I did come away with a fab MS punch, a Sarah Kay stamp, some pearls and some bazzil cardstock so hopefully I'll get to have a play with my new stash tonight.

A card for Mum

>> Friday, 5 March 2010

Another week has flown by!  It’s still very cold but we’ve had some beautiful sunshine and it’s amazing how much better it makes you feel after months of grey skies and short days.  I’ve been busy sorting out Thomas’ clothes this week; how can one little boy accumulate so much?  I’m filling the charity sacks that come through the door quicker than they arrive but I’m also starting to feel broody again so maybe I should put the sacks in the loft for a year or two?!

For today’s card I used a fantastic sketch by Marianne from the StampARTic blog.  I had a delivery of new stash arrive this week and I used some of my new papers (Fancy Pants) and pink tulle on this card.  The ribbon and buttons are from the pink kit from Truly Scrumptious Crafts.

Stampartic 1

Stampartic 2 Tomorrow there is a Spring  mini-fest at the Craft Barn so as soon as Dave gets back from work I’m heading off to Surrey for a few hours of crafty fun and a bit of shopping.  I’m hoping to get my hands on the new distress ink pads but I’m sure there will be a lot of goodies that will mysteriously jump off the shelves and into my basket!  Have a lovely weekend.

Truly Scrumptious Challenge 27

>> Wednesday, 3 March 2010

We’ve had a couple of beautiful sunny days here in Kent.  The snowdrops and crocuses are out and it finally feels like Spring is on the way.

It’s time for another Truly Scrumptious challenge and this week we have a great sketch designed by Dawn

3 March 2010

The optional extra challenge is to make a card that is ‘good enough to eat’.  This is the only ‘foodie’ stamp I have but she is one of my Bildmalarna favourites.  The papers are from a very neglected K & Co pad (Roan I think) and the sentiment is from Wild Rose Studio.

TS27

Our sponsor this week is Stamp and Create and there is a fantastic prize for our challenge winner so i hope you can join in the fun.
