Friday Sketchers

>> Saturday, 27 September 2008

What a lovely sketch to work with this week. I've used my gorgeous Basic Grey 'Eva' papers which I am totally in love with! Tilda is coloured with Prisma pencils and distress inks. The sentiment tags are a Quickutz die, the flowers are Prisma and I've used a button, charm, brads, ribbon and spacers from my stash. I'm really pleased with the way this has turned out.

A cute first birthday!

>> Friday, 26 September 2008

I've made this card for my friends little girl who will be one next week. I can't believe the past year has gone so quickly. It doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that we were both pregnant and on the phone to each other moaning about our 24 hour sickness/aching backs/constant tiredness!! I think this card qualifies for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge - I've added glitter to each of the creatures on the letters. I've coloured with distress inks and water colour pencils and the paper is Doodlebug (I think).

Sketch Saturday/Spoon Full of Sugar

>> Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Jo created a lovely sketch to use this week. I've used it to make a birthday card for my brother-in-law. The Doodlebug papers are not that inspiring but they are good for male cards! I coloured Edwin with distress inks (don't look too hard or you'll see where the ink 'bled'!) And the fish charm qualifies this for the Cute Card Tuesday challenge which is to use a charming character or a charm on your card.

I am now down to my last piece of A4 white smooth card!! I ordered some more over a week ago but it hasn't arrived yet and I'm starting to panic a bit!! I'll have to use my watercolour paper for all my stamping in the meantime. Hopefully the postman will bring me a lovely parcel tomorrow.

Hanging Treat Box

I've made this hanging treat box as part of my entry for the Craft Stamper 'Stamper of the Year' competition. I got the template from Splitcoaststampers and it was really easy to make. The paper is from a DCWV stack and I used purple and pink core-dinations card. I hung it on the stairgate so you can see it from a different angle! I'm going to try and make one for each of the children - put a small pressie inside and hang it on the Christmas tree!

After a couple of days with my parents I'm way behind on all the challenges but hopefully will have a bit more time to craft tonight.

Whiff of Joy - Guest DT call

>> Wednesday, 17 September 2008

Katarina is looking for a guest DT member! Now I don't for one minute think my cards are up to that standard but, hey, may as well give it a go!!

I've used her sketch #4 for this card. The papers are Basic Grey which I've scuffed a little around the edges. The swirl stamps on the green paper are Inkadinkado. Amelia & Swing is a Kadoodle stamp designed by Christine Dry and she was lovely to colour. I've used Prisma pencils and Sansador and I've highlighted her pockets with diamond glaze and a bit of glitter on her flower. The flowers are Prisma and the charm was from a mixed bag I bought off Ebay. Ribbon & brads from my stash.

Papertake Challenge/A Spoon Full of Sugar

>> Tuesday, 16 September 2008

Finally I had a chance to play with some more of my new 'stash' last night and I've used Katerinas sketch to make a Christmas card. I just love this new stamp which is by Little Claire Designs. I've used watercolour pencils to colour it in and added some 'fluffy up stuff' with plenty of glitter. No more Fiskars circle cutter for me; I used my nestabilities for this card and I love them! The blue background has been embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake design and the snowflakes are punched from glitter card. Sorry the picture isn't brilliant but there was no natural light at 6.30am this morning!

Crafting heaven!

>> Sunday, 14 September 2008

at the wonderful Craft Barn yesterday! I love their demo days. Lots of demonstrators showing off new products and ideas. I always learn something new. It was great to see Wendy (Horrod) again and to meet Christine Dark. Christine designs stamps for the Craft Barns exclusive Kadoodle range of stamps. She is a very talented lady and her cards are even better in 'real life'. It was lovely to meet her and have a non cyber-space chat!

I bought some lovely stash and then spent a happy few hours last night playing and making this card. And today I'm off to Biggin Hill to a papercraft show. What a fab crafty weekend!

I haven't had any time to craft over the last couple of days and I'm so tired I'm going to force myself into bed early tonight! I have been playing around a bit with my blog; uploading a photo of me and changing the overall look of the blog and I received a few crafting goodies too - nestibilities and some charms. I will have to resist playing later and save them for tomorrow!

A Spoon Full of Sugar

What a lovely sketch from Nicki this week; I've used it to make my sisters birthday card. Tilda has been coloured with Prisma pencils and H2O's. The papers are from the Making Memories Olivia collection which I've had for ages. I made the charm by punching some inked shrink plastic and adding a jump ring and the flowers are all from the Craft Barn with brads and spacers added to the centre.

I'm really looking forward to visiting the Craft Barn this weekend. They will have loads of demonstrators there and it will be a great chance to stock up on goodies - my stocks are definitely running low! Maybe I'll bump into some fellow bloggers while I'm there?

Tilda & Co Challenge

>> Monday, 8 September 2008

The challenge on the Tilda & Co blog this week is an interesting one; envelope art!! I saw a tutorial on SCS for this card and thought it would be perfect. The card is folded and shaped like an envelope. Untie the bow and the greeting is inside! I coloured Tilda with water colour pencils and distress ink. I've used Basic Grey papers, Bazzil cardstock and also a bit of Bazzil Bling to add a little bit of sparkle. I used my piercing tool around the edge of the flap and then stamped the greeting and a small motif on the inside. Really pleased with how this turned out.

Wow - so excited!

>> Sunday, 7 September 2008

I'm in this months Craft Stamper magazine! Unfortunately I'm not one of the designers but my card has made it onto the readers page on pg 67. The card is on my blog (July 08) and it is my favourite colour combination - pink and denim! It wasn't the winning entry but I'm just excited to see my name and card in print!!!

Friday Sketchers/Cute Card Thursday

>> Saturday, 6 September 2008

Two challenges in one card again! The sketch for this weeks Friday Sketchers challenge is lovely and as pink is definitely the predominant colour in my paper stash, this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge was very enjoyable! One small moan though, my Fiskars circle cutter is the most annoying piece of crafting equipment I have. I wasted so much card trying to cut the circle to stamp Lily onto - it just won't cut through thick card very well so I'm moving Nestabilities to the top of my crafting 'wanted' list! I just love mixing the denim card with pink and I think I've said before how much I love these Karen Neuburger papers and the flower embellishments are KN too.

This is the first card I have made for the Ismaki challenge. Its a lovely sketch and it was nice to work with some very simple papers rather than trying to mix several patterns together. I embossed the scalloped strip with my Cuttlebug and coloured Fluffles with distress inks and water colour pencils. I love Bev's idea of using bead spacers in the centre of flowers so I ordered some from Ebay. It was nice to add some wire to the card too - nothing too complicated, just wrapped it around my paper piercer and added some beads.

This card took me ages! I had a very busy day at work, my eyes were hurting and there was more layering and mounting for this card than I am used to! The card for this weeks Papertake Challenge. The papers are all Scribble Scrabble and I've coloured Tilda with distress ink and H2O's. I haven't made a DL size card for a while and I'm pleased with the way it looks - not sure about the colour scheme though!
