I finally got around to making my card for the Tilda & Co 'dotty' challenge. I'm really pleased with the way the card has turned out and I think its my favourite so far out of all the cards I have made for challenges. The papers are from a Karen Neuburger pad which I LOVE LOVE LOVE! So much so that I have to force myself to use them otherwise I would look at them and then just put them away again!!!! It's not too clear on the photo but the paper at the bottom of the card is scalloped. The flower and tag embellishments are also KN and have been sitting in my drawer for ages waiting for the right card. The sentiment was stamped onto the tag
with Staz On.

Here is my card for this weeks Papertake challenge. It was a lovely sketch to work with; the papers I used are from a pack of handmade papers I bought on holiday a couple of years ago. I used my Artifacts 'Thank You' stamp to stamp directly onto the card and the punched flowers have a sequin and gemstone in the centre. The sentiment is raised on sticky fixers.

And the winner of my blog candy is NantyLornar. Congratulations! Please email me your address and I'll pop the papers in the post.

I'm going to have very little time to craft this week but I'm going to try and meet all the challenges. First one completed this week is for Cute Card Thursday. The challenge was to make a birthday card which seems easy but without too many constrictions I can spend AGES trying to decide on colours/layout etc. Anyway, this is what I've come up with: I chose my paper first and then went from there. I've used a Penny Black stamp coloured with distress ink, watercolour pencils and H2O's.

And I've won some blog candy!! How lucky am I; I've only been blogging for a few weeks. The candy is from Max who has some lovely cards on her blog - Thanks Max.

Finally I got around to completing the Papertake challenge! The challenge this week was to create a card using hot colours. Well I hope orange, pink and blue are hot enough! I was also going to enter this card into the Cute Card Thursday challenge when I realised that its Friday already! Where do the days go!

Anyway, after completing the card I realised that these are not colours I would choose to work with and seeing as I've had the papers for over a year and this was the first time I have used them, I have decided to give the remainder of the pack away. The pack is by Papermania are the papers are 8" x 8". If you would like what is left (which is pretty much the whole lot!) then leave me a comment and I will draw a name out of the hat on Wednesday next week.

I've also completed an ATC tonight but as it's being entered into a competition I won't post it here until the results are out!!

I've completed two challenges so far this week. The first was for the new Penny Black challenge using the first PB stamp you bought. I love this stamp and it's still one of my favourites. I've coloured him in a light grey which isn't very clear on the scanned picture and used my new Basic Grey papers. The little butterfly has also been highlighted with glitter glue.

The second card is for the Tilda & Co challenge which this week was to incorporate the 'serendipity' technique. Lilac and green together is one of my favourite combinations and I seemed to have plenty of scraps in those colours in my box! The other papers are from a Sizzlets pad. This was the first time I'd used my Tilda stamp and I love her as she is so versatile. Here she's sitting on a strip of satin ribbon. The base card is green, although this doesn't show too well on the picture.

This will be a very quick entry as I have so much to get done in the next few hours before I drive to my parents house. I finished my Dad's birthday card yesterday. I took inspiration for the layout from the Papertake blog and one of their DT, Dawn. Luckily my goodies arrived from the Glitter Pot really quickly so I was able to use my new 'Edwin' stamp.

And today I completed a 1st Fathers Day card for Dave. I took a few snapshots of Thomas and Benji yesterday in black and white and then designed the card around the picture. I wanted to keep the colours simple and my new Basic Grey papers were perfect. I stamped some swirls onto the paper and then layered the card and paper. The pricked effect around the horizontal strip was made using a tool I bought from a sewing shop. I don't know what its called but its a handy little tool to have. The sentiment was printed from my computer and I shaded it with chalks.

Oh, and just as a footnote, Thomas crawled properly today for the first time! He's been rocking on his hands and knees for a couple of weeks but today he moved forward a few steps before collapsing!

Two cards in two days! I did cheat a bit because I coloured the Lily & Milo image a couple of days ago. I'm really pleased with the way it has turned out; the colouring (water colour pencils) took me about an hour as I wanted to get the shading right and the papers are from Crate Paper.

I did a bit of online shopping this morning and spent the rest of my birthday money. Most of it was spent at the Craft Barn at the weekend but I ordered some more stamps today (Lily & Mil0, Tilda and Edwin) plus some Basic Grey papers. Can't wait until they arrive!

Welcome to my Blog!

>> Tuesday, 10 June 2008

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! My name is Sharon, I'm 38 and married to David. We have a son, Thomas, and a furry baby - our dog Benji!

I've been making cards now for about 2 years and I'm hooked. I mainly make them for friends and family but I also sell a few too. Our tiny 3rd bedroom is my craft (& junk) room and I love disappearing up there whenever I can to make cards or ATC's. Since giving birth to our son 7 months ago I haven't had much time to craft but I'm hoping that, by keeping this blog as my creative diary, I will make the time and start to experiment a bit more. I've stumbled across some great crafting blogs; there are some fantastic card makers out there so hopefully I can take a bit of inspiration from them!

So often I sit at my desk to make a card and my mind goes blank. I have some lovely new papers or stamps to play with but I can't think what to do with them! Which is why the Papertake weekly challenge is so great. They give you a different layout each week so all you have to do is choose your papers/stamps/embellishments and away you go. And tonight I have completed my first 'challenge' card! I used Doodlebug papers and my new Penny Black alphabet stamps. Hope you like it!
