Friday Sketchers / Just Magnolia

>> Saturday, 27 February 2010

The weekend has finally arrived but I think its going to be a soggy one!  We might escape the rain today but the forecast for tomorrow is awful which is typical as my parents are visiting for the day and we like to get out of the house for a walk when the weather is nice.  However, my dad did say he would help lay our new bathroom floor so at least that might get finished!!

My card today is for two of my favourite challenges –Just Magnolia and Friday Sketchers.  This card came together very easily, although I did my usual thing of adding something after most of the pieces had been stuck down!

jmfs3

jmfs2 I’ve coloured this Christmas Tilda with distress inks and added some stardust stickles.  The border stamp is from Ladybug & Friends and my papers are a mixture of Magnolia and Melissa Frances.  I’ve spritzed my Prima and Wild Orchid Craft flowers with pearl Glimmer Mist and added a snipped piece of a Prima ‘Say it with Pearls' swirl.  The sentiment circle is cut with a Quickutz die and the sentiment is from Wild Rose Studio.  The button brads are from Making Memories.  After I’d stuck everything down I decided to add the strip of lace so I had to apply a big dollop of glue under Tilda’s feet to stick her down again!

I hope the sun shines wherever you are this weekend.

Papertake Weekly / Project Tuesday

>> Tuesday, 23 February 2010

I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was pretty uneventful but because of the rain Dave couldn’t work so we had some nice family time together.

PTW

I’m entering this card in a couple of challenges.  I’ve used the great sketch from this weeks Papertake Weekly challenge and made a gift card holder (Project Tuesday).  The papers are Daisy D’s and came from a fab online store called The Craftz Boutique.  I’ve only shopped there once but the service was excellent and they have every paper imaginable and more, plus their Bazzil cardstock is a really good price.

PTW2Tilda is coloured with distress inks and I used my Martha Stewart punch to create the pink vertical strip.  I attached a 10cm square card to the centre which opens up to reveal a small envelope which is just the right size for a gift card.  And I’ve just realised that there isn’t a flower in sight – that must be a first for me!

I hope you like it!  Have a great week.

Sketch & Stash for Pink Gem DT card

>> Friday, 19 February 2010

I hope you have had a good week.  It’s been a bit busy in our house as we’ve been decorating the bathroom and trying to do that with a toddler running around the place means it takes AGES.  I’ve also been putting together some flat pack furniture from Ikea which I find strangely  satisfying!!

HPIM2004

HPIM2007 I’ve used the sketch from the latest Sketch and Stash challenge for my Pink Gem DT card.  Get Well Milly is coloured with distress inks and I’ve used the inks to edge all my papers too.

Truly Scrumptious Crafts is sponsoring this weeks Creative Card Crew challenge which is to make a ‘Get Well’ card so I thought I would join in the fun.

>> Wednesday, 17 February 2010

Wow, the Truly Scrumptious challenge blog is one year old!  It’s been great to visit so many wonderful blogs over the past year and I hope you will continue to enjoy our challenges for the next year and beyond.

For our birthday challenge we have not one but three prizes to give away.  The first prize is a $20 voucher to spend in the Digital Delights store and two runners up will receive a mystery prize each from Truly Scrumptious Crafts.

This is the sketch for our challenge

 17 Feb sketch

And this is my card.  I used an adorable image from Wild Rose Studios and coloured him with distress inks.  The papers are the new range from Wild Rose Studio, as is the sentiment.

Pretty in Pink

>> Friday, 12 February 2010

Hello, I hope you have had a good week and are now looking forward to a relaxing weekend.  I don’t think my weekend will be particularly exciting.  Dave is going to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea play tomorrow so Thomas and I will be choosing the new paint and flooring for our bathroom as I’ve got next week off work to do a bit of decorating.

I’ve been dying to ink up my new Magnolia stamps and finally tonight I got to do just that.

HPIM1997

I’m really pleased with how this turned out.  I think this Tilda is so cute and she definitely has a bit of attitude!  The papers are a mixture of Bo Bunny and Basic Grey (Lemonade and Bittersweet).  I’ve embellished the card with ribbon (Truly Scrumptious Crafts), flowers from Wild Orchid crafts and a Prima swirl.

HPIM1998

It was fun to make an easel card again.  I used another Magnolia stamp to decorate the inside with a Prima flower centre.

HPIM2000

I think I will keep this card for Mothers Day as I always have to make 4 cards and it always seems to end up a bit of a rush.

I’m entering this card into the following challenges:

Just Magnolia – Love

Colour Create – pink, brown & red

Basic Grey – sketch

Cute Card Thursday – In the name of Love

Stamp Something – Something Cute

Lovely new Wild Rose Studio goodies!

>> Thursday, 11 February 2010

I think I mentioned that a lovely DT package of new Wild Rose Studio goodies landed on my doormat last week.  Since then I’ve been busy making cards for Dulcie to display at a trade show later this month and I thought I’d share one of these cards with you.

WRS

Isn’t this little fella adorable?  As well as really cute stamps Wild Rose Studio now have their own line of patterned papers, coordinating brads and sentiments – all of which I’ve used on this card.  I’ve used a Martha Stewart border punch for the layered panel and added a length of grosgrain ribbon from Truly Scrumptious Crafts.

The layout is from a great sketch by Ria at Sketch Saturday for this card so I’m going to enter it into their challenge.

Pink Gem DT / Papertake Weekly

>> Tuesday, 9 February 2010

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good week so far.  Last week my February Pink Gem DT stamps landed on my doormat and I couldn’t wait to ink up Football Miki.  Thomas loves kicking a ball and  last weekend he started at Little Kickers which he absolutely loved  !  He chased around kicking every ball he could and tidying up the cones the coaches were trying to set out!

PG DTBack to my card and I used Dawny’s Papertake Weekly sketch and kept it very simple.  The papers are My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus and the sentiment is from Paper Mania.  Sorry about the rather  poor picture quality. I need to find a better way to photograph my cards with artificial light – any tips would gratefully received!
